The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022 or later. The Department is looking for exceptional individuals in all core areas of Mechanical Engineering, with particular emphasis in autonomous systems, controls, and robotics; energy storage systems and sustainability; and/or computational science and engineering.
Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, and the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality and impact. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field at the time of application. A demonstrated record of excellence in research and a proven ability as an outstanding teacher are desired. Successful candidates will have a strong record of collaborative, interdisciplinary research, contribute to advancing and supporting Mechanical Engineering curricula and student mentoring, and leverage synergies within the Department, the College of Engineering, and the campus.
