Tenure Track Professorship (W1) „Systems Theory and Automatic Control“

A new tenure-track Junior Professorship for “Systems Theory and Automatic Control” will be
established at the Institute for Systems Theory and Automatic Control (www.ist.uni-stuttgart.
de) within the Faculty Engineering Design, Production Engineering and Automotive
Engineering. The professorship will be jointly appointed by the Stuttgart Center of Simulation
Science.
Candidates are expected to have a strong background in the field of systems and automatic
control and an excellent record of accomplishments in theoretical foundations or computational
methods or modern applications of system and control, such as robotics, energy systems,
production and transportation systems, or biomedical engineering. It is expected, that the
successful candidate will develop a strong and visible research program bridging solid
theory development, computational methods and applications in the long run.
We expect contributions to teaching in the Bachelor and Master programs of the Engineering
Cybernetics study program and other study programs, as well as the acquisition of third-party
funding and active involvement in further collaborative research projects of the University,
especially the Cluster of Excellence Data-Integrated Simulation Science (www.simtech.uni-stuttgart.
de/exc) and the Cyber Valley (cyber-valley.de/en).
The position is a tenure track position, leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of
a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg
