The Automation and Sensorics in Networked Systems (ASN) group at the University of Kassel is looking for motivated PhD candidates to join the upcoming BMWK-funded project "IntelliEMEs" on intelligent operational control of sector-coupled energy systems.
Within this project, we employ automatic control, artificial intelligence, and stochastic optimization to enable the operation of future low-carbon energy systems. The research tasks include system identification, observer design, fault detection, and the development of stochastic predictive controllers. The work involves both simulation studies and real-world validation in collaboration with industrial partners.
Your background:
Strong background in automatic control and (stochastic) optimization, with a keen interest in applying these approaches to sustainable energy systems.
We offer:
- Full-time position (E13 TV-H, > 58k€/year)
- Duration: 01/2026 – 12/2028
- Opportunity to pursue a PhD in a supportive and collaborative research environment
