Dear Colleagues,
I am seeking outstanding candidates for a Postdoctoral position in the field of human-robot interaction and AI, starting September 2025. The position is housed within the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering.
I am looking for highly qualified and motivated individuals with a strong academic background in robotics, controls, and machine learning, and a keen interest in advancing the frontiers of human and multi-robot systems interaction. Please share the information with your students who may be interested.
Position Overview
The Interdisciplinary and Intelligent Research (I2R) lab at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering in Clemson University is a Controls and Robotics lab featuring interdisciplinary and innovative research in the intersection of systems and controls, robotics and human-robot interaction, machine learning, and formal methods. This particular position focuses on human-robot trust modeling, motion planning for ground mobile robot teams based on reinforcement learning and temporal logic specifications, with ground mobile robots. Highly qualified candidates will also have opportunities to work with graduate students on other projects related to controls, AI, and formal methods of (mobile) manipulators and drones.
The work will involve the intersection of the following aspects:
- Computational models and machine learning methods for human trust in multi-robot systems
- Multi-robot motion planning and control in offroad environments using multi-agent reinforcement learning
- Safe and provably correct robot motion planning under temporal logic specifications
- Modeling of human decision dynamics and quantification of choice preference under uncertainty
- Multi-robot simulation in Unity integrated with ROS and multi-robot experiments, both with human subject tests
