I am writing to let you know about a new IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) initiative, the inaugural IEEE Young Professionals Virtual Control Conference (YPVCC) which will be held in 2023. Link: https://ypvcc2023.ieeecss.org/
This conference is focused on reaching young professionals (i.e. received first undergraduate degree after 2006) who don’t typically attend flagship IEEE CSS conferences. YPVCC will provide new forms of value and support for early-career researchers and practitioners. This conference will complement existing CSS conferences and reimagine the way conferences engage with YP to grow diversity within CSS.
We welcome YPs from diverse technical and professional backgrounds, and will facilitate this by (1) making the conference virtual by design, (2) encouraging code contributions, (3) allowing talk-only submissions, (4) allowing extended abstracts, (5) requiring papers to be submitted by YP as first author, (6) having tutorial sessions run by YP with the help of TCs, and (7) having flexible scheduling to encourage greater YP participation.
