The Department for Process Analytics at the University of Hohenheim offers a minimum 3-year full-time research assistant position in the area of
Modeling, observer and control design for cell population balance models
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alexander Schaum. The position can be filled as soon as possible.
The prospective candidate should be highly motivated in working with complex dynamical biosystems, involving mathematical, numerical as well as basic experimental analysis. In particular she/he will be further developing observer and control design techniques for partial integro-differential equation models using either early or late lumping techniques. The candidate will be offered the possibility to do her/his PhD.
Suitable candidates should hold a Master of Science degree or equivalent with experience in the area of automatic control, bioprocess or chemical engineering, technical cybernetics, electrical engineering, applied mathematics or physics. She/he should be motivated in doing both theoretical and experimental analysis, where the experimental part can be supported by technical assistants. Furthermore she/he is expected to be open-minded and willing to work in an interdisciplinary and international team and manage a very good English in written and spoken form. The employment will take place within the German salary system (TVL13, max. 100%). Applications from women are especially welcome.
The process analytics group at the University of Hohenheim focusses on the development of model-based analysis and control methods for nonlinear and distributed parameter systems with particular applications in the area of bioreactor and food engineering as well as thermal processing. The University of Hohenheim is an innovative and research-oriented university in the south of Stuttgart, Germany, with students from around 100 different nationalities. Generously equipped research facilities, a baroque palace and extensive park areas characterize the campus. It is known for modern teaching and cutting-edge research in innovative subjects in the natural and agricultural sciences, economics and social sciences.
