There is a postdoc position available on developing reliable AI for cyber-physical systems using control theory at IRT System X Palaiseau/CNRS CRIStAL, Lille., France.
The postdoc is expected to use control theory to provide theoretical guarantees for machine learning algorithms applied to cyber-physical systems. The use of techniques from control theory will allow to take into account the physical constraints and the dynamical nature or cyber-physical systems, to provide theoretical guarantees for robust performance of machine learning models, and to integrate physics based models into analysis and design of machine learning algorithms.
The candidates are expected to have a PhD with a specialization in machine learning, or automatic control or mathematics and have some of the following skills:
- The scientific bases essential for the mastery of machine learning models, their evaluation and their deployment
- The basics of automation, control theory and system identification necessary for mastering the development of cyber-physical systems.
- Understanding the functional issues and digital challenges of complex cyber-physical systems and their application to use cases.
- Technological knowledge necessary for the design, definition and implementation of Machine Learning and automatic tools, and software development (scikitlearn, tensorflow, pytorch, python, Matlab).
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English and preferably in French.
IRT SystemX is committed to equal opportunities. As such, all our posts are open to candidates with disabilities.
IRT SystemX is located at the heart of the Paris-Saclay scientific campus of world excellence, and has the ambitions of a world-class technological research center in the field of digital systems engineering. Its mission is to generate new knowledge and technological solutions based on breakthroughs in digital engineering and to disseminate its skills in all economic sectors. The subject of the position has been defined by the consortium gathered in the framework of the confiance.ai program and more precisely in the EC4 project (Design of trusted AI systems, algorithms and tools) in close link with Mihaly PETRECZKY, CNRS researcher, from CRIStAL laboratory (Centre de Recherche en Informatique, Signal et Automatique de Lille, UMR 9189).
Within IRT SystemX, the post-doctoral fellow will report hierarchically to the "Data Science, AI, Interaction" team, whose leader is Loïc Cantat, and functionally to the project leaders Hatem HAJRI and Sergio MONTEJANO VILLALBA. The position is based in Palaiseau. The postdoctoral fellow may be required to travel to the partner laboratory.
The duration of the position is 1 year.
The expected starting date is October 2021, but other dates can be negotiated. Application is open until the position is filled.
Applicants should contact Mihaly PETRECZKY (mihaly.petreczky@centralelille.fr), Hatem HAJRI (hatem.hajri@irt-systemx.fr), DELHOMME Geoffrey (geoffrey.g.delhomme@airbus.com)
