The Department of Automation and Sensorics in Networked Systems (ASN) at the University of Kassel invites applications for a Research Associate (PhD Student or PostDoc) full-time (currently 40 hours per week) position in the field of
“Artificial intelligence-based methods for future low-carbon power systems”
At the Department of Automation and Sensorics in Networked Systems, methods from automatic control, artificial intelligence, and networked systems are combined and used for applications in the area of complex energy systems with a high share of decentralized, uncertain, renewable infeed. Our goal is to use these methods to enable future low-carbon energy systems that enable sustainable economies. Currently, we are looking for support to establish the newly founded department.
Your tasks:
- Teaching activities in the area of control and optimization of future power grids as well as data-based modeling and sensor fusion.
- Development of teaching and research infrastructure (e.g. simulation server, laboratory experiments).
- Work on a research area in the field of artificial intelligence-based methods for future power grids.
- Scientific assistance in research and teaching.
- Developing and contributing to publications.
Requirements:
- Above-average academic university degree (diploma, master's degree or equivalent) in electrical engineering/information technology, mechanical engineering, technical cybernetics, applied mathematics, or similar. The required degree must be received by the hiring date at the latest.
- Strong knowledge of systems theory, such as multivariable control and system identification.
- Careful, independent, and team-oriented work ethic.
- Good verbal and written expression skills (German and English).
Beneficial:
