The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca - among the top-ranking Italian universities - invites applications for several fully-funded Ph.D. positions in Learning and Control, a doctoral track within IMT’s program in Systems Science.
Successful applicants will receive the following benefits:
- a stipend of approx. € 1,300.00 per month;
- free full-board, serviced accommodation at the stunning IMT campus located in the heart of Lucca, Tuscany (estimated value € 800.00 per month);
- 50% scholarship increase for research periods abroad;
- generous research allowance.
The positions are fully funded for three years, with the possibility of a scholarship extension of up to one additional year.
Working closely with IMT's DYSCO group, successful candidates will be able to pursue research towards the development of algorithms for machine learning of models starting from data and for the control of dynamical systems based on numerical optimization. The track provides a strong international network of collaborations and prepares researchers to perform top-notch research with high technological impact and industrial applicability.
We welcome outstanding applicants interested in control, learning, and optimization from several areas of engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science, including automation, optimization, machine learning, optimal control, and numerical methods.
IMT Lucca fosters an international environment, and the working language is English.
