The Chair of Control Systems and Network Control Technology at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU C-S) invites applications for a Research Associate/PhD Student position in the field of
“Grid stabilizing control methods for hydrogen power plants”
Duration: 5 years, i.e., until 31.12.2027, fully funded, remuneration according to E13 TV-L (min. 52.000€/year)
Starting date: As soon as possible
Closing date for applications: 20.01.2023
Project partners include: ENERTRAG, Fraunhofer IEG and TU Dresden
Brief description:
The core of the "Lausitz Reference Power Plant (RefLau)" is the construction of a modern hydrogen power plant in the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park, in which exclusively renewable energies are used, opportunities for sector coupling are developed and new value creation potentials are demonstrated through ancillary services in the public electrical grid.
The RefLau project thus provides a scalable solution for future emission-free power plants and enables the transferability of fundamental research results to industrial applications. As a result, RefLau will serve as a reference for the conversion of conventional power plant sites to renewable energy generation.
Your tasks:
You will conduct scientific work in the field of control of climate-neutral energy systems with a focus on the development, implementation and experimental testing of grid-stabilizing control concepts for hydrogen power plants. For this purpose, you will apply modern model- and data-based control methods. In addition, you will support our team in the planning and construction of the "Lausitz Reference Power Plant" real-world demonstrator at the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park.
Together with our project partners from science and industry you will work on the research project. Furthermore, you will handle research-related administrative tasks. You will also actively participate in the energy technology discussion by publishing in scientific journals and presenting your current research results at international conferences.
Your skills:
- You have successfully graduated from a university (accredited Master's degree/university diploma or equivalent) in a field relevant to the position (electrical engineering, energy technology, applied mathematics, engineering cybernetics, physical engineering or comparable)
- Desire for academic and personal development, especially for doctorate
- Ability to work scientifically, independence, flexibility, teamwork and communication skills.
