One of Germany's most dynamic energy research locations is currently being created in Cottbus, as part of the energy transition. The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), which is a young upcoming university that traditionally focuses on energy research, plays a central role in this structural development process. In the new „Energy Innovation Centre“ (Energie-Innovationszentrum - EIZ [(https://www.b-tu.de/en/energie-innovationszentrum/]) more than 70 scientists from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are researching innovative solutions and technologies for a climate-neutral energy supply in Lusatia and worldwide, together with an interdisciplinary partner network.
We would like to expand our team at the Chair of Control Systems and Network Control Engineering at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and are therefore looking for an exceptionally qualified and ambitious
Research Associate (PhD student or Post Doc) at the Chair of Control Systems and Network Control Engineering
The position is part of the EIZ sub-project "Control Systems and Cyber Security Lab (COSYS Lab)".
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duration: until 31.7.2026, fully funded, remuneration according to E13 TV-L (min. 48.000€/year)

These are your responsibilities
Realization of scientific work in the field of control and operation of sector-coupled energy systems with a focus on intelligent control of electricity consumption from renewable energies for end customers from trade and industry based on price signals. For this purpose, modern methods for distributed control and multi-agent systems are to be used.
Additional responsibilities include: Lecturing and publication activities on the particular research topic, preparation of input for reports and presentations as well as other research-related administrative tasks within the context of the research project.
Your Skills
- You have successfully graduated from a university (accredited Master's degree/university diploma or equivalent) in a field relevant to the job (electrical engineering, energy technology, applied mathematics, engineering cybernetics, physical engineering or comparable)
- Desire for academic and personal development, especially for doctorate
- Ability to work scientifically, independence, flexibility, teamwork and communication skills.
