Section Transport Engineering & Logistics (TEL) at Delft University of Technology invites applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professorship with a focus on Smart Industry and Production Logistics.
Global challenges on sustainability, limited resource availability, and energy efficiency force industry to rethink current production & manufacturing processes and practices. New technological trends in the areas of smart industry, information & communication systems and digitization, autonomous systems (robotics), RFID, IoT, and AI provide opportunities for creating new ways of designing such systems.
There is a strong need for developing insights in how the performance of next generation industrial production logistics systems and processes can be impacted, taking into account their large-scale and interconnected nature.
Embedded in the Dept. of Maritime & Transport Technology of TUDelft, with this position you set up new research lines inspired by industrial supply chain and production challenges. Your directions address production logistics challenges at supply chain level and/or industrial (production/manufacturing) site / plant / facility level, making it possible to relate them to concepts such as Factories of the Future, (Maritime) Industry 4.0.
