As a trend in innovation of automotive engineering, the connectivity provides new opportunity and challenging issues for vehicular powertrain control due to big potential in use of the connected information for improving energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emission. This special issue is focusing on the latest development, trends, and novel techniques for design of on-board optimization strategies for hybrid electric vehicles under the connected environment. Especially, a special section is included in this special issue that correct several papers on new challenging solutions of the IFAC E-COSM 2021 Benchmark Competition, where a real-time energy management problem with V2X information is targeted for a typical hybrid electric vehicle. The contributions will motivate further challenges from younger researchers in the field of optimization and control.
Topics include but not limited to
Real-time energy management problem for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs)
On-board optimal control of powertrains
Modeling and simulation of connected vehicle system
Reinforcement learning with V2X information
Control of automotive powertrain systems
Energy management of HEVs
All manuscripts must be submitted through the manuscripts system at
