The Division of Automatic Control at Linköping University has a vacant post-doctoral position in the area of navigation with elements of machine learning. The postdoc position is for a research project supported by Vinnova and Saab AB within Innovair Air Domain Study. The project is a cooperation project with academia and industry in Brazil. It is focused on the development of methods for navigation in GNSS-denied areas by fusing information extracted with machine learning from images with inertial measurements. The following topics will be investigated:
- - Methods for extraction of useful information from images using machine learning.
- - Fusion of image information and inertial measurements for navigation.
- - Evaluation of proposed algorithms using simulated and real data.
The applicant is required to have a PhD in Systems & Control theory or in a closely related field. Knowledge and experience of information fusion, statistics and machine learning is considered beneficial. An excellent track-record of published papers in highly regarded journals is a prerequisite, as are communication skills, ability to work in team and independently. The applicant should have a good command of English both orally and in writing. Since this project is a collaboration with defense industry in Sweden and Brazil, relevant industrial experience is beneficial. The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
